Ma.

Pulling me into her lap,

Dragging me as I resisted.

Seeing me crying,

Holding back her own tears.

Hugging me fiercely,

Telling me it’s going to be okay.

I didn’t believe her,

She didn’t know the future.

Yet I felt comforted all the same.

Her sweet melodious voice.

Ringing through my ears as the tears stopped flowing,

and as I lay down in her lap,

I felt,

At ease at last.
